Steamboat Nostalgia

My steamboat dinner today triggered my memory of my last steamboat session which was close to 7 months ago at Gotong Jaya. Two weekends before that, I sent my brother back to his college.

*reminiscing*

That weekend, I was on a pretty fine mood for a short road trip up to Genting and brought Alan, Stephanie and Soo Teng along.  I usually dropped my brother off at KL Sentral where he’d catch the bus back to Genting on student fare, but that weekend, somehow I caught the drivebug. Any roadtrips with jokers like Alan and Tian Leng can guarantee laughter from start to end.

“There…the food in this shop not bad. The curry mee is good.” Tian Leng pointed at a restaurant, as we turned into the junction leading to the gates of GIIC.

As he got out the car, I said, “be a good boy ah. DON’T smoke soo much…you know what I mean!”

“yaa yahhhhh…your friend quite a funny guy ahh,” Tian Leng cut me off and diverted the conversation.

“Ok sista…ByeE! Drive carefully ahh,” and he gave his trademark grin. With his faded backpack and bright orange plastic bag filled with his usual groceries, he disappeared into the college hallway.

So, off we went for our dinner at this steamboat restaurant. Chilli dip was so good we said we have to make another trip back for the steamboat.

Life’s like that huh…..

Two weeks later, I was back….

at the same restaurant having my steamboat.

But this time I was there to collect his belongings.

F*ck….was that the last time we spoke? I really cannot remember. Probably was. Sometimes the mind consciously has a way of unconsciously pushing certain memories into a tiny corner.

    May,

Somehow I do know what you feel..At times we don’t even know when was the last time we even talk to someone and we don’t even realise how fast the time passed..After reading this post of yours somehow things that Thian Leng said or do come across my mind to be able to feel how you felt at that point of time..

I hope you’re strong enough to go through everything..It’s been a while since we catched up and I do hope you’re doing fine..

    E-Ling,

It’s never easy to love someone, esp when it’s so unexpected. But that’s part of life..Thanks for your encouragement, and thanks for visiting my blog ;)
