Marry Me Now @ Pullman Putrajaya Lakeside

Good morning and Happy Saturday! I hope everyone’s had a wonderful night of football as the South Africa vs Mexico match kicked off to a great start. I should have placed a bet since I predicted a 1-1 draw! lol … Alas, all’s well and I hope Sue, our wedding coordinator doesn’t wake me up at 2am to catch her favourite team, France in action.

We seem to be participating in a galore of wedding fairs within this quarter! I am quite picky with the wedding fairs that we participate in, so when we do join, you can be assured that these venues are ‘a must-check-out site!’ if you have yet to book a venue for your upcoming wedding. Pullman Putrajaya Lakeside Resort resides majestically by the lakeside of Putrajaya with its distinct ethnic architecture, overlooking the landmark bridge of Putrajaya on the east side of the resort. Inside the resort, the interiors are a total opposite with its modern, stylish and contemporary designs. We did a function at their Warisan Ballroom once, and I would love to have more opportunities to explore the endless possibilities that can be done with the multi facades that sit within this 2.1 hectares of land. I have not stayed at the hotel hence I can’t say much about the rooms but all of its 283 rooms are designed to depict the multi cultural ethnicity of Malaysia, so it’s also a great place for your destination guests to experience Malaysian hospitality under one roof!

Mustard Boutique by Remy Ngan

Remy Ngan is a wonderful makeup artist specialising in bridal beauty. She’s in my top list of make up artists amongst the many makeup artists we have in the industry. She also owns a quaint little boutique at Kota Damansara. It’s called Mustard. Pretty cool name eh! I made my way there one fine afternoon and was pleasantly surprised by the many vintage-inspired styles and quirky pieces she carry in her shop. In fact, I fell very much in love with the adorable hangers in the form of  birds, which were all lying on the floor, a work-in-progress in the making but I thought they were for sale! I ended up buying a bag, a necklace, a dress and a top. Do drop by her place and you might just find something you like!

Mustard Boutique is located at 35-2, Jalan PJU 5/11, Dataran Sunway, Kota Damansara, PJ.

Wedding of Michael and Jun Yee

Marriage is not just a vow of commitment to each other, but it goes deeper than that. It is about being unselfish, unconditional sacrifices when you realise your only aims are to make your partner happy and feeling secured. I am a good old fashioned man. I enjoy the traditional aspects of the wedding, exchange of vows, tea ceremony, wedding march, first dance and toasting. It solemnised the importance of the wedding.                                                                                                                                                                -Michael Hii-

I am excited to share with you the wedding of Michael and Jun Yee which was held at The Bankers Club, at the penthouse of Plaza Amoda. Both Michael and Jun Yee are based in London and they engaged our services about six months prior to their wedding. Despite not being able to meet up face to face, I could sense that Jun Yee has a great personality, with her bubbly persona and sweet voice. Not to mention, the colourful emoticons on her MSN! hahaha… well, we all know lawyers are the best exemplars of “Work Hard, Play Hard”. ;P

I think I only had a word or two with Michael over the phone, just before they came back about a week before their big day to coordinate the surprise segment for Jun Yee. After our first meeting, I told Jun Yee, “Michael is a really great man! You are really lucky to have found each other!” and she retorted,  “How do you know he’s a great man?” Hmm… call it six sense.

The wedding of Michael and Jun Yee had a classic English ambience infused with bright colours of summer. Volumes of law journals form an integral part of the decoration, along with Shakespearean quotes and feathered pens in mahogany and black. The classic, aristocratic stuffiness was soften with colourful butterfly message cards and blooms of orange, yellow, peach and red carnations, roses, orchids and lilies. As the planner, my biggest concern was to ensure the bright colours will not make the setting look tacky or OTT. The direction of conceptualisation was to ensure that the wedding was classy but not too old-fashioned. I think we did pretty alright in balancing the rich colours of red, orange and yellow in tasteful details that are current yet would remain timeless.

With Jim, Ning and John of Jim Liaw Photography as the official photographers, one can be assured that all those  priceless moments would be captured beautifully and encapsulated in timeless art. Marching in to the song ‘Daddy’s Angel’, Jun Yee entered the hall through the grandstairs of Bankers Club together with her father. He then handed her over to Michael and together, they walked to the stage for the cake-cutting ceremony and first dance. After the bouquet toss, guests were then invited to the next hall for dinner. Miniature towers of Ferrero Rochers doubled as centrepieces and wedding favours. The ambience for the evening was intimate and laid back, with Keith Tan, Malaysia’s very own Jason Mraz serenading the guests throughout the evening. For the second gown, Jun Yee wore an exquisite  royal blue embroidered silk gown from Shanghai Tang. Sharon of Wedding Isle did a beautiful side swept hairstyle for Jun Yee, finished with some yellow Mokara orchids and slightly deeper pink cheeks. The dinner started on time and ended early, but both Michael and Jun Yee had a good uninterrupted time to catch up with old friends throughout the night. I really enjoy planning intimate weddings, it’s always more meaningful when the couple gets to talk and thank every guest who attends the wedding.

A Heart-Warming Birthday Video

Mukhtar is a bus-driver in Copenhagen, Denmark. On 5th May, he went to work on his birthday. His co-workers planned a surprise for him and their boss, who came to know about their plans, decided to get it recorded. Here’s the final edited outcome. Don’t you think it’s just so heart-warming, it brought tears to my eyes just watching how touched he was.
