Wedding of Ian and May Yee
This wedding was years ago but it’s still one of my favourites! It’s the epitome of Mediterranean simplicity, where all you need is a good venue with sun-drenched walls and infusing the warmth of the Tuscan countryside with simple enhancements.
I call it the “Casablanca Happy Everything Production” because they were a cheerful lot, and by they, I mean the wedding entourage of whom are from the Young KL Singers gang. Naturally, as a singer, songwriter and the theatre manager of KL PAC and Actor’s Studio, Ian composed a song for May Yee and sang it during the dinner. CD containing their favourite love songs were given away as wedding favours which also doubled as seating indicators, beautifully designed by Joel Wong. A very intimate wedding with lots of singing, dancing, merriment, joy and laughter.

A billboard in Hong Kong, Three Seconds Down Memory Lane
A guy once said to me “I’ll get married when I can afford a luxury apartment or condominium in Hong Kong.”

This billboard is a nostalgic recollection of that piece of memory etched into the back of my past.
Cyberview Lodge Resort & Spa Wedding Fair
Happy Sunday! Hope everyone is having a wonderful long weekend and Happy Wesak Day! I wish I could jet off to an island where there is no phone reception but alas, it’s a busy working weekend for me. I wouldn’t complain though because this weekend is spent hunting gowns with and for two beautiful brides whose weddings would be held in the 3rd and 4th quarter of 2010. This afternoon will be spent with Michelle’s bridal entourage and some personal shopping *finally!*
I foresee a busy week ahead. With only 5 more days to go before the big day of Wye Hon and Michelle, there are still some final details to run through such as their final guestslist and seating arrangement. It’s gonna be a super chic wedding and I can’t wait for the final outcome!
Then there’s this CYBERVIEW LODGE RESORT & SPA WEDDING FAIR happening next weekend too! It’s a beautiful venue for a garden ceremony and if you have yet to book your wedding venue, be sure to check it out next Sunday!

Wedding of Lipson and Jessy
Much earlier, we featured a post on the pre-wedding shoot of Lipson and Jessy at Maldives. Now, feast your eyes on their wedding which was held at The Hilton Kuala Lumpur. When you think of weddings, your mind might wander off to the soft pastel colours of pink or purple, or perhaps the crisp colour of white or the bold shades of red. Lipson and Jessy have never wanted your standard-ballroom-wedding we’ve all come to expect. Their wedding oozed charisma! Although inspired by the cold tones of winter-themed wedding, Lipson and Jessy weren’t keen on yet another white fairytale winter-themed wedding but wanted a clean, modern wedding with royal blue, plum purple, black and silver as their colour theme. In fact, they specially requested their guests to come in dark shades of purple, blue or black.

I only met Lipson once, i.e., just days before the wedding during the finalisation stage when we had to get acquainted with the emcee and bestman. Lipson, a very successful financial planner attached to Manulife, was often busy with work, leaving the wedding in the hands of his beloved wife.
Jessy was a decisive bride who knew what she wanted. From magnetic invitation cards to personalised place cards for every guest, butterscotch black fondant cake to translucent tea pot filled with rose tea buds, every detail of the wedding was planned to a T. There were times when I would get up to 15 emails a day from Jessy! haha.. She even bought me oriental slippers during her trip to China. *Thanks so much! Hugssss* She was also a hard core DIY bride who decorated her bridal suite, made the pomanders for her sisters and many other personal touches that made the wedding truly meaningful. I used to be so worried that she’d be too busy or stressed out on her wedding day to complete all these tasks. But she was the coolest, most stress-free bride I ever know! It was indeed a real pleasure working with Jessy on her wedding!!

Wedding of Su Kwong and Chloe
I first met Su Kwong and Chloe on the eve of New Year. They are based in Perth, and we were communicating via phone calls and MSN before we finally met up to finalise the decor and programme rundown. Their wedding was a two-day event but since we were already booked on the prior day for another wedding, Su Kwong and Chloe only engaged us to manage and decorate their wedding reception.
Their wedding was held at Oriental Banquet, PJ and they wanted a theme which was reflective of vineyard theme but not too overly done to please the conservative aesthetics of the older folks. They picked a photo from their engagement shot at a winery in Australia to be projected as the backdrop for the stage.

The couple’s family had 2 sessions of food-tasting at Oriental Banquet because they were utterly unhappy with the quality of the food, but on the big day, everyone had high praises for the mouth-watering dishes. I think the only set back with the venue is that the Banquet Manager who doubles as the emcee can be quite a difficult person to work with, and even the sound tech coordinator had to multi-task as a waiter.

A Weekend at the Holiday Villa Travel & Bridal Fair
After a weekend of working at the fair, I’m so glad to be home again, with a bucket of warm water for my aching feet and a TV remote in hand. Before I could retreat to my comfy sofa, I have one more task to do – a teleconference with Jo Han and Ur Cheng who will be calling me at 11pm from London to discuss on their wedding progress. So, while I have 15 minutes or so, here’s a quick update on some highlights of my working weekend.

About 2 weeks prior to the fair, I doodled a rough sketch of our booth on a note pad and passed it on to June to execute my very ‘rough’ sketch.

I decided to make it simple. Just white + fuchsia pink. After all, the fuchsia pink is our ‘trademark colour’. It was a coincidence that Precious Petals, the florist next to our booth, set up a white & pink themed tree which really helped make our booth prettier!

I even wore my favourite pink heels to the fair!! Now, is this dedication or what. haha..

I booked a night at the hotel so that we didn’t have to travel back the following day. Although it was just a short distance from PJ to Subang, I thought we could do with a little R&R after the fair. We had a late dinner at Windmill restaurant, and retreated to our cozy room right after a hearty meal. Our room is like a time machine. It is exactly as how I remembered it when my mom and dad used to bring us here when we were young. That was like ..20 years ago!! Holiday Villa back then was pretty cool. Now, it just feels dated and in desperate need of a face lift.
The following day, my cousins paid us a visit at our booth. Lynne was back from Bermuda while Zynne was back from Adelaide for a short break and it was great meeting them! In that very brief 20 minutes or so, Lynne managed to show me some ‘updates’ on her life in Bermuda. Happy for you, girl!

I think I did quite an alright job doing my social rounds speaking to all the vendors. Got to know some new vendors with some interesting products at affordable rates. I certainly look forward to opportunities in working together with you guys some time soon!
Tiffany-inspired Blue

Tiffany-inspired wedding is such a timeless trend. It’s also my favourite shade of blue so I was totally on cloud nine when a client decided on this colour theme! Apart from being a very elegant colour, it is also a versatile colour that can be paired with white, ivory, rich brown, platinum, silver or even gold; but there is also risk that the wedding might end up looking tacky and distasteful. The trick is really not to go overboard with the blue eventhough it is the dominant colour for a wedding.
I’ve put together 5 of the closest turquoise tones for my client. Which tone would you go for, the lighter or darker ones?
